Asia is an Italian pianist and conductor currently living in London. Born and raised in Tuscany, she developed an early and profound connection to music through her family and the rich cultural heritage of her region.
She moved to the United Kingdom to pursue advanced musical studies, completing a Master of Music in Conducting, with Collaborative Piano as a second study, at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, where she studied under David Jones and Michael Pollock. She previously trained at Royal Holloway, University of London, graduating in Piano Performance under Matthew Stanley and James Kirby. Now based in London, she works as a freelance conductor and collaborative pianist.
Her operatic experience includes Assistant Conductor for Alcina and Orpheus in the Underworld, Co-Répétiteur for Don Giovanni at the David Seligman Opera Studio, and Assistant Conductor, Co-Répétiteur, and Language Coach for Turandot at the London Performing Academy of Music.She has worked as répétiteur on productions including La Traviata, The Magic Flute, and Le Nozze di Figaro, as well as Piano Accompanist for the Croatian Opera Academy, and Language Coach for the BBC National Chorus of Wales for Stabat Mater.
Her work spans opera, working with singers and instrumentalists, and concert performance, with appearances at venues including Erbal Saal, Mozarthaus Vienna, Convay Hall, Henry Wood Hall London, Stanway and Sons Munich, Dora Strouzer Hall Cardiff, Berlin Opernfest. She played under the baton of conductors such as Toby Purser, David Jones, Carlos Spierer, James Southall, and Cristian Cimei. She has a deep understanding of the voice by being a soprano in the BBC Symphony Chorus and BBC National Chorus of Wales, performing regularly at the Royal Albert Hall, BBC Proms, and Barbican Centre, collaborating with conductors including Antonio Pappano, Klaus Mäkelä, Martyn Brabbins, Nil Venditti, Marin Alsop, and Sakari Oramo.
Her first musical experiences were at the piano with her grandmother; a piano teacher whose influence shaped her artistic sensitivity from the very beginning. A second formative influence came from her other grandmother, with whom she sang in the church choir of a small Tuscan village of just 160 inhabitants, developing an instinctive understanding of music as both intimate expression and shared experience. Growing up in the homeland of Giacomo Puccini, she developed an enduring affinity with opera and its expressive language, which continues to inform her artistic identity.
